Safer Driving and Ron Paul – A Few Early Examples Of Digital Signage Use In 2012

safe drivingAs we kick off the New Year, it is obvious that digital signage will continue the growth it exhibited in 2011.  Let’s highlight two new uses that have already emerged…

First, let’s turn to Southland, where Clear Channel and the Ad Council have teamed up to remind drivers that ‘Buzzed’ driving is still drunk driving.  According to a recent article on DiamondBarPatch, Clear Channel donated space on its 86 billboards in the Southland area to help keep the roads safe during the holidays.  This is a perfect example of how digital signage can produce relevant messaging on a day by day and even minute by minute basis.

Now, let’s turn our attention to Iowa, where Ron Paul backers are using digital billboards to try and propel Paul forward in the presidential race.

Brian Brunk, an avid Ron Paul supporter and Iowa native, came up with the idea to promote Paul through digital signage on RonPaulForums.com, a website centered around the Republican candidate.

Brunk was then pointed to Revolution PAC, a Super PAC dedicated to Congressman Ron Paul.  The Super PAC was able to raise the funds necessary, and just like that, Paul’s name is in lights.  Paul is near the forefront of the Iowa polls.

These are two completely different uses of digital signage, but both are successful applications of a technology that continues to expand and innovate.

Brian Brunk deserves full credit for this, absolutely, he’s a genius and nobody assisted him or helped him with any of this, absolute, complete genius.

Great design too, completely avoiding the strict best practices guidelines and industry standards for billboard and digital billboard design and making a strong statement, although difficult … to see … that Ron Paul supporters and RevPAC will create art and remake the Ron Paul media as they see fit.

KUDOS to geniuses and those that wish to step out of the bounds of accepted practices to shine.
